MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A Wisconsin 19-year-old who is accused of helping kill the parents of a friend’s girlfriend after a dispute over COVID-19 restrictions signed a plea agreement, authorities said Tuesday at a status conference.
Ali’jah Larrue, who is charged with two counts of party to the crime of first-degree intentional homicide, will likely plead guilty next month to amended charges, the Wisconsin State Journal reported. Sentencing for Larrue would be delayed until after the outcome of the case against his friend, Khari Sanford, who allegedly fired the shots that killed Dr. Beth Potter and her husband, Robin Carre, of Madison, last March. ....

Family, friends remember couple murdered at UW Arboretum one year ago

MADISON, Wis. It’s been one year since a Madison doctor and her husband were shot and killed at the UW Arboretum.
Two teens, including one that had dated the couple’s daughter, face charges in the case. A Dane County judge ordered separate trials for 19-year-olds Khari Sanford and Ali’ja Larrue. Both have motion hearings in their cases next week.
In the meantime, friends, family and the community are remembering the couple. The UW-Madison Police Department sent a tweet out Wednesday honoring the couple. ....

Eric Hovde owns several commercial and residential properties in downtown Madison.
Former Republican U.S. Senate candidate Eric Hovde says he saw “crime escalating” in Madison and decided to do something about it. Just not publicly.
This summer the downtown Madison property owner quietly spearheaded an effort, dubbed “Save Madison,” aimed at alders who, he claims, want to “defund the police.” 
“In the last few years, public safety has really declined. Particularly in this last year, rather meaningfully so,” Hovde tells
Isthmus. “The council has done nothing but attack the police. I mean, how many oversight boards do we need? And at the same time this is happening, we’ve had an 80 percent increase in shootings.” (This is a reference to police data on incidents of “shots fired,â€� ....
