The robberies took place Monday just over an hour apart from one another, Austin police reported.
The first robbery occurred at 1:10 a.m. in the 8800 block of North Lamar Boulevard.
Arriving officers learned that two Tortas y Tacos Dos Hermanos employees were closing up for the night when they were approached by the robber. Police said the man held both employees at gunpoint and demanded money.
He then headed east on foot before jumping into a white sedan and driving off with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The second robbery took place at 2:31 a.m. in the 400 block of East Rundberg Lane.
Austin firefighters on Friday battled a fast-moving grass fire outside modern East Austin condominiums just off Interstate 35.
The blaze broke out just before 2 p.m. in the 800 block of Embassy Drive at the Tyndall at Robertson Hill, the Austin Fire Department reported.
The fire, which authorities said was caused by a worker using a weed eater, scorched grass along a hill outside the condos and destroyed some landscaping including several trees. It burned right up to the building, but didn t set it on fire, AFD Division Chief Thayer Smith said.
No injuries were reported, Smith said, and the fire was under control about 10 minutes after crews responded to the fire.
