Local scouts now National Youth Leadership trained | News, Sports, Jobs

PHOTO PROVIDED Huge congratulations to Robert Lombardi, Ashton Peters and Caleb Frazier. These three scouts from Woolrich Troop 66 are now officially National Youth Leadership trained. The scouts went thru a six-day course separated into two weekends involving intense problem solving and team building activities as well as many presentations. One of the team building activity included setting a tent up blindfolded. The three scouts are some of the very few who have the training in our troop! The skills they learned will be shared with the troop in hopes of creating a more structured troop and meetings. NYLT is a course that centers around the concepts of what a leader must be, what he must know, and what he must do. The key elements are then taught with a clear focus on how to. The skills come alive during the week as the patrol goes on a Quest for the Meaning of Leadership.

The demonstration was organized by the Mama Bear Brigade in conjunction with Glen Riddle Station residents on the heels of a federal lawsuit filed by the apartments owner seeking fire code compliance with the construction. Concerns voiced included noise reaching 90 dB, dust entering nearby apartments, children having to stand on Glen Riddle Road to get the school bus and safety issues, including adequate access for fire trucks.
