UTICA, N.Y. – A new ordinance proposed in Utica Thursday would allow the city to issue hefty fines for illegal operation of an ATV.
After receiving dozens of complaints, Mayor Robert Palmieri says the proposal aims to prevent people from illegally operating ATVs within city limits.
“My office, along with UPD, receive calls about illegal ATVs use on a regular basis. This proposed legislation was crafted to curtail this activity, and to give UPD the resources and enforcement it needs to substantively address this issue,” said Palmieri. ....

Riding Your ATV Unlawfully Could Leave You With An Empty Wallet
Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri is proposing an ordinance to combat the illegal use of ATV’s in the City.
The Mayor’s proposed ordinance would impose a fine of $500 for anyone illegally operating an ATV within City limits, along with confiscation of the ATV.
In addition to the fine, the owner must reimburse the City for the towing expense. And the owner would also have to pay $2,500 to get the vehicle back.
The proposed legislation is in response to dozens of complaints by residents in all areas of the City of illegal ATV use. ....

UTICA, N.Y. – The City of Utica is planning to renovate the Commercial Travelers Insurance building on Genesee Street by developing a mixed-use property, with loft apartments and commercial space.
Utica Mayor Robert Palmieri made the announcement Wednesday.
The first floor of the building will have space for a commercial tenant, as well as a fitness center and community room. ....

Lindsey was shot and killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop on Neilson Street in Utica in 2007. Wesley Molina-Cirino, who was 24-years-old at the time of the killing, was subsequently charged, convicted and sentenced to serve life in prison without the possibility of parole.
