Remembering The Irish Famine Ships | Blog Posts

a- As before, I mark St. Patrick s Day with a re-link of my July 2002 review of the famine memorial in New York City.  My review was positive; I described the memorial as a modest artistic success. As it failed, the reader must decide if the Irish American invaders were naive or laudable for dreaming of an ancestral homeland free of colonial oppression. Whatever the verdict, the story began in Chicago in 1863.
