The film was directed by Mahesh Bhatt and today it completes 37 years since its release. Soni, who was a part of the film, wrote a first-person account of what happened during that time and how was her experience of shooting the film. Talking to Bombay Times, she wrote, “Whenever I think of Saaransh there is a kind of warm feeling that I get. It was the first film of mine as a leading actress and for this reason alone I think I owe that memory a special mention. The best part about making this movie was the passion that the director had for his subject. That permeated down to every department of the film be it the writing, the actors, the set design, costumes, and then the editing.
