The Counter Terrorism Department announced the arrest of a student of the NED University of Engineering and Technology on Monday, claiming that the student is involved in international terror financing.
Addressing a press conference at his office CTD DIG Umar Shahid Hamid, flanked by CTD in-charge Raja Umar Khattab, stated that the CTD had arrested Hafiz Muhammad Umar bin Khalid, a third year student at NED, during an intelligence-based operation on December 17, 2020.
According to Shahid, two mobile phones were confiscated from Khalid’s possession and initial examination of the phones indicated that Khalid may be involved in terror financing. However, as there was no concrete evidence against him at the time, Khalid was released on personal surety, said Shahid. But, his phones were kept and sent for forensic a ....

An NED University student was arrested in Karachi for sending money to terrorist organisation Daesh.
Muhammad Umar Bin Khalid was arrested in a Counter-Terrorism Department operation near the Cantt Station.
His arrest was announced at a press conference on Monday by CTD incharge Raja Umar Khattab and Omar Shahid Hamid. They said the raid was conducted after intelligence sources identified Khalid as a suspect.
He reportedly collected money from people in Pakistan and sent it abroad to the terrorist group. ....

The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police on Monday claimed to have arrested a student of Karachi s NED University of Engineering and Technology over charges of international terror financing .
“The CTD arrested Hafiz Mohammed Omer bin Khalid over international terror financing charges when he was trying to flee the city,” CTD DIG Omar Shahid Hamid told a press conference at his office. According to Hamid, the held suspect is a final year student at the varsity. ....
