NAIDOC Week profile: Acting Inspector Lisa Damman
Acting Inspector Lisa Damman was inducted into the Queensland Police Service (QPS) more than 17 years ago. It was early in her career that she crossed paths with a remarkable and strong Aunty who, through sharing stories of overcoming trauma as part of the stolen generation, ignited her own passion for First Nations advocacy.

“Prior to Aunty’s passing I made a promise to her that I would never forget that she welcomed me into her life and trusted me enough to listen to her stories. It was this promise that has helped mould my career to what it has become today, and the reason I am so passionate about working with our First Nations peoples in these communities,” Acting Inspector Damman said.

Local product Caleb Tull shone in his Intrust Super Cup debut with the CQ Capras, who were beaten in an epic encounter in Emerald on Saturday night.
For the sixth time this year, the Capras led at half-time only to be run down by their opposition.
This time it was the Norths Devils who came back from an eight-point half-time deficit to register a 24-16 win.
They scored three tries in 10 minutes in the second half to secure their sixth win of the season while the Capras are still chasing their first.
It was a similar scenario in the Hastings Deering Colts game.

Sharni will line up in the second row for the Capras, Tamika at fullback for the ladder-leading Burleigh Bears.
It will be a monumental day for the Uptons but Sharni said she was trying to approach it as “just another game”.
“I’m trying not to think of playing against Tamika too much, I just need to focus on my game and the Capras game plan,” she said.
