Dr. Srdjan Nesic, Russ Professor of Chemical Engineering in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology, has been named the 2021 Distinguished Professor by Ohio University.
“Dr. Nesic is recognized as one of the world’s leading scholars in his field, and he is most deserving of the distinguished professor designation, Ohio University’s highest honor,” Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis said. “Srdjan’s scientific expertise has been cited globally, and his work and research, along with that of his current and former students, are making a tremendous impact in the world of corrosion science.” ....

Ohio University President M. Duane Nellis prepares for Fall Commencement 2020.
Approximately 5,344 students are expected to participate in Ohio University’s Spring Commencement ceremonies starting Friday, April 30 through Sunday, May 2, at Peden Stadium and virtually.
The graduate commencement ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. Friday, April 30, for both master’s and doctoral degrees. Undergraduate ceremonies will take place at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 1, 4 p.m. Saturday, May 1 and 2 p.m. Sunday, May 2.
All commencement ceremonies will take place rain or shine in Peden Stadium and are expected to last two and half hours each. Gates will open to the public 90 minutes prior to each ceremony start time. Seating is general admission and tickets are required to e ....

Students gain real-world web development experience through OHIO IT program

As a result of Brad Golski’s involvement with the Student Software Engineering Program, he has gained real-world experience with web application development and scored two summer internships.
Golski, a junior studying computer science, has been working with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) program since September 2019. The Student Software Engineering Program offers computer science students professional experience that benefits both their careers and Ohio University. The hands-on program has served dozens of students at OHIO such as Golski for almost a decade.
Through the program, Golski is currently rewriting a web application for the Ohio Program of Intensive English. ....

In honor of Earth Day on April 22, Ohio University professors discussed ways we as a society can be more sustainable and reduce our carbon footprint, as well as the impacts of climate change on equity, justice and health, in the latest Ask the Experts livestream.
The experts, whose areas of expertise range from urban sustainability, solar energy, environmental health and biomass conversion, talked about community solar initiatives in Ohio, how COVID has impacted the environment, building infrastructure out of sustainable materials and those most vulnerable to climate change. ....
