AS Bolton has once again become the focus of national attention due to the steep rise in the Indian variant of Covid-19 the town is doing what it does best coming together and beating the problem. Thousands of residents have come forward and got their vaccination in recent weeks as the town’s public health team and NHS set up pop-up testing centres, parked the vaccination bus at Essa Academy, bringing vaccinations into the heart of the worst hit communities, and knocked on hundreds of doors making sure people had the right information and tests they needed. Just over 90 per cent of all Bolton residents over the age of 50 have been given their first dose of a vaccination, according to the CCG. Data from Public Health England also showed that 65.6 per cent off all age groups in Bolton have been vaccinated. ....

The large queue has stretched onto Lever Edge Lane with many cars parked up on the surrounding estate as people flocked to get vaccinated against Covid-19 following a plea by health chiefs. People living, working or studying in the BL3 or BL4 postcode areas have been eligible to have a vaccine at the site between 10am and 4pm on Saturday and today. ....
