Commissioners award contract for replacement of Rumson-Sea Bright bridge The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners has awarded a construction contract for the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge on county Route 520 (Rumson Road) over the Shrewsbury River in Rumson and Sea Bright. The commissioners took the action during a meeting on May 27 in Freehold Borough, according to a press release from the county. “Due to the age of the bridge, it has deteriorated over time and routine maintenance can no longer address the deficiencies,” said Commissioner Director Thomas A. Arnone, who is the liaison to the Monmouth County Department of Public Works and Engineering. ....
Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge getting $107.5M replacement View Comments The Monmouth County Commissioners approved a $107.5 million contract to build the long-awaited replacement of the Rumson-Sea Bright Bridge. Richard E. Pierson Construction Co. Inc. of Pilesgrove in Salem County won the contract after submitting the lowest responsible bid of the 10 companies seeking the project. Virtually all of the costs associated with replacing the bridge, which crosses the Shrewsbury River, came from federal transportation funds, Monmouth County Commissioner Director Tom Arnone said. The county s share of the project is $47,400. That s compared with the replacement s overall costs of $131 million, which includes federal grants Monmouth County previously received for permitting and design of the bridge. ....
