Their mandate will be to see that Covid patients who are home quarantined, remain at home and adhere to the stipulated norms. The chairperson and secretary will not enjoy powers under the Indian Penal Code or Bombay Police Act but they can exercise their authority and ensure that the Covid patients in their housing societies donât wander around but remain confined to their homes. ....
Only housing societies with more than 250 members can hold elections MUMBAI: Maharashtra government on Tuesday decided to allow all co-operative societies, including housing societies, to hold elections. The state had postponed elections in co-operative institutions since last May and as per an order in January, elections were postponed till March 31. The government order on Tuesday said the January order stands cancelled and elections in co-operative societies, like banks and housing societies can be held. Experts said societies with up to 250 members will not be able to hold elections despite being allowed as rules for their elections have not been notified by government for two years. ....
