Several area high school wrestlers qualified for the 2021 state meet.
Pella is sending two wrestlers after placing 2nd at the Class 3A District 5 meet at Iowa City West, including two-time qualifier and heavyweight Kody Huisman and 160 pound Senior Ryan Van Donselaar, who placed 2nd in his bracket.
PCM is sending Landon Fenton, Colby Tool, and Cooper Sloan to Wells Fargo Arena. Tool is a four-time state qualifier and Fenton has made it to his 2nd straight appearance.
The 2021 Iowa High School State Wrestling Tournament is in Des Moines this Thursday through Saturday.
After one of the strongest starts in school history, the Pella wrestling team heads into their first traditional tournament of the winter at home this weekend. The Dutch have an 8-3 dual record through the first two-and-a-half weeks of competition.
Head Coach Jay Pike says the Bill Van Horn Invitational will feature eight other teams of varying school size and talent at Pella High School, starting this Saturday morning.
