Southeast organizations earn charitable gaming grants

The quarterly grants paid by SLGA are based on a percentage of net proceeds raised through licensed charitable gaming activities such as Bingos, raffles, break-open tickets, Texas hold em poker competitions and Monte Carlo events. Charitable gaming reports submitted by groups as part of their charitable gaming licence are used by SLGA to automatically calculate grant amounts.
Numerous organizations in Estevan will share nearly $40,000 in grants: the No. 30 Wylie-Mitchell Air Cadet Squadron received $1,003.63, the Estevan Elks Lodge ($1,182.76), the Estevan Extreme Volleyball Club ($2,384.56), the Estevan Gymnastics Club ($4,996.47), the Estevan Humane Society ($2,424.38), the Estevan Lions Club ($4,867.98), the Estevan Minor Hockey Association ($43.75), the Estevan Sharks Water Polo Club ($2,451.25), the Estevan Figure Skating Club ($1,701.15), the Estevan TS&M U15 AA Bruins ($678.75), the Estevan Wildlife Federation ($398.85), the Estevan branch of the Royal Canadian Leg ....

Cheers to the Estevan Wildlife Federation for organizing the fishing derby on Boundary Dam this month. Yes, it was a cool and windy day, but it was still nice to spend the day out on the water, enjoying something that can be done safely.

Cheers to Troy LeBlanc from the Estevan Comprehensive School’s caretaking staff for taking on the last minute job of waxing the floors at the Hillcrest Early Learning Centre and for doing an amazing job. Cheers to the Downtown Business Association for having the outdoor markets, and to the Estevan Farmers’ Market Association for its first market of the season. It was good to see people at both. Hopefully they will be supported throughout the year.

Wildlife federation selling tickets for a 50-50

“We haven’t had a fundraiser in two years, and we … may not see anything until next year … and we have so many projects we work on all year long, that we really do depend on those donations and a lot of our fundraising efforts,” said president Wanda Michel.
“This is one way we thought we could do it and keep everyone safe.”
Tickets are currently on sale for the fundraiser and the jackpot is growing. The draw date will be June 2.
Proceeds will go to several different initiatives. They have youth programs, including the conservation camp they have offered in previous years. The EWF isn’t sure if the camp will happen this year. ....
