The parade, which is always a highlight, will look a little bit different. The board has decided to have a regular parade, but changed the route in order to facilitate social distancing regulations. The parade will head north on Weldon Road, turn east on Railway Avenue to Carbon Street and end at Weldon School. They do ask that there be no interaction between the floats and the spectators, so candy and flags will not be tossed out. They also ask that spectators please physically distance themselves between households around the parade route. The initial plan was for a reverse parade, with people walking past the floats, but the committee was able to host the traditional parade.
The park would go in the empty area between the pool and the rink. “All we’re looking at doing is building a six-foot fence … we don’t have it all staked out or anything like that, but it would roughly require 350 feet of fence to be built. It would be built to any regulations that are present, and whatever the city would propose would be best,” said Porter. A former member of the Weyburn Kinsmen Club, Porter noted the Kin members in Weyburn are running the dog park in that community. Designs for the park indicate there would be a small holding pen with a small gate with access from the inside of the main park, and another small gate with access to the dog park. This area would be used to get dogs accustomed to their surroundings.
Cheers to the beautiful, historic Orpheum Theatre. The different show times are good, as are the matinees. Small town heart, with big city service, this is a high-calibre venue. We are very happy it is open again. Cheers to whoever place candy canes on vehicles at shopping areas in Estevan on a Saturday afternoon. People really appreciated the gesture. Cheers to everybody who supported the Community Hamper Association and the Angel Tree Program. Thanks for helping people have a better Christmas this year. Cheers to the Estevan Kinettes Club for another enjoyable PJ Project. The kids are always excited to get new pyjamas on Christmas Day.
