May 28, 2021 BATU PAHAT (BERNAMA) – The Sixth Battalion of the General Operations Force (GOF6) busted a syndicate selling liquor using fake customs duty stamps, with a seizure worth MYR1.3 million, following a raid in Taman Bandar Cahaya Baru, Yong Peng, near here on May 25. Commanding Officer Superintendent Rozasin Ramlan said that in the raid carried out at 10.15am as a result of two-week intelligence, GOF6 also seized 854 boxes of liquor of various brands, containing 21,470 bottles. “During the raid, a 41-year-old storekeeper was also detained to assist the investigation,” he said at a press conference yesterday. The syndicate was believed to be actively distributing liquor to Batu Pahat and surrounding areas, he said, adding that the authorities were tracking down other syndicate members who were still at large. ....
ALOR SETAR: The 10 suspects detained by police in relation to the discovery of the body of a 17-year-old girl in a rubber plantation in Pokok Sena on May 11 were charged at Alor Setar Magistrate s Court here Tuesday (May 25). They arrived at court at around 9.00am and at 11.30am were brought before Magistrate Nurshahida Abdul Rahim to be charged. The main suspect, 26-year-old Low Yong Peng, was charged under Section 201 of the Penal Code for disposing or hiding evidence of a crime with the intention of avoiding punishment under the law. The charge carries a maximum of seven years imprisonment or a fine, or both. ....
