March 3 (UPI) The last carrier deployment of F/A-18 Hornet fighter planes ended last week, Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 323 noted, with a transition to F-35 planes.
Personnel of VMFA-323, known as the Death Rattlers, returned to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Calif., after a 10-month deployment with Carrier Air Wing 17 aboard the Navy aircraft carrier USS Nimitz in the Indo-Pacific area of operations.

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - After 10 months at sea, service members with the USS Nimitz returned to San Diego on Friday.
Parent DJ O Grady stood by on Harbor Island to watch the warship sail into the San Diego Bay.

After heading over the horizon last April, just as the COVID-19 pandemic was beginning to upend life across America, the aircraft carrier Nimitz and its strike group are heading home, completing the Navy’s longest deployment since the Vietnam War.
The carrier arrived in San Diego Friday to drop off Carrier Air Wing 17, its crew and any other sailors who call San Diego home and will then steam up to its home port at Bremerton, Washington, in the coming days. ....
