YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - Yuma County recently unveiled its $464 million budget proposal for fiscal year 2021-2022, which marks a nearly 60% increase from last year s. According to County Administrator Susan Thorpe, the additional funds are coming from the federal government with a one-time payment of roughly $42 million in coronavirus relief aid.
The Yuma County Board of Supervisors also managed to save millions of dollars from last year s budget. According to Thorpe, that s because the board was cautious about its funds during the pandemic.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) - The Yuma County Board of Supervisors joined with the County Administrator Monday to name the 2020 County Employee of the Year.
County leaders also recognized the Court Employee of the Year, and presented the annual Safety Excellence Award.
This year s recipients include:
Jessica Rodriguez: 2020 Yuma County Employee of the Year
Jessica Rodriguez is the Deputy Director of Human Resources. She s played a variety of roles in the department since joining the County more than 12-years ago. During the pandemic, Jessica has provided support and assistance to elected leaders, department heads, and the more than 500 county employees, in addition to handling her usual duties. Jessica received a commemorative plague and a $1,000 prize in addition to the honor.
