Residents in Richmond wanting to get vaccinated can do so Today at the Islamic Center in Henrico. The outreach event is one of many the center has been hosting since the pandemic began. At the vaccine clinic there will be Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi speakers. Today’s event will be from noon to 4 and is open to anyone who needs a first dose. Walk ups are welcome. The Islamic Center will hold two follow up events later this month for second doses.

For more than half a century before it became the state s first museum devoted to science the building at 2500 W. Broad St. in Richmond was a transportation hub.
After hearing from former and then-current employees of the Science Museum of Virginia about their experiences as people of color at the organization, Yasmine Jumaa began to examine the museum’s public record on matters of race, equity and inclusion and to question institutional leaders in and beyond SMV about what it takes to truly serve all Virginians, as their mission statements say they do.

The pandemic has taken a hit on the economy and worsened existing disparities in access to basic needs like housing, food and healthcare.
A new report from the Annie E. Casey Foundation highlights those disparities in outcomes for people of color.
Data in the report shows that 25% of Virginia’s Black families with children said they sometimes or often don’t have enough to eat, and 36% aren’t sure they can make their next rent or mortgage payment on time.
