1/1 HEARTBROKEN Roz Gray today paid a loving tribute to her husband Roger who she says took his own life after struggling for months in chronic pain. Roz, 74, of Clifton Moor, said she watched her beloved husband Roger Gray suffer for weeks and become increasingly anxious over his declining health. Roger, 79, had been fit and well and working as a gardener until March. On Father s Day, June 20, he left the family home in Clifton Moor and his body was found in the River Ouse two hours later. An inquest is expected to be held into Roger s death. His funeral was taking place today in York. ....
GP practices in the Vale of York have been working with local housing services and community providers to ensure that homeless people have been able to access the Covid-19 vaccine. The targeted vaccination programme has been led by NHS Vale of York Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), with practices based in York and Selby vaccinating people in their temporary place of residence, including rough sleeper accommodation. York Medical Group and Scott Road Medical Centre, based in York and Selby respectively, have been vaccinating homeless people against the virus as part of the national roll out to ensure that as many people as possible are able to get the vaccine. ....
THE ‘hidden heroes’ running York’s vaccination programme have won recognition with a host of awards for ‘outstanding performance during the pandemic.’ Three members of the Nimbuscare vaccination team at Askham Bar received individual awards, with a fourth award going to the whole team. The Hidden Heroes initiative was established by four companies playing a key role in supporting General Practice with the pandemic: Dene Healthcare, Gama Healthcare, Interface Clinical Services and Practice Index. Tom Jones, of Dene Healthcare, said the ‘amazing work’ being done in General Practice was too often overlooked. Local GP partner Dr David Hammond received one of the awards after taking leave from his practice, York Medical Group, to lead the on-site service. ....
