Authorities say a Sanford man started the fire Wednesday that displaced tenants and caused significant damage at the apartment building where he lives.
Thomas McGinn, 48, was arrested Thursday by investigators with the State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Sanford Police Department and charged with arson, the Maine Department of Public Safety said in a news release Friday.
The fire happened early Wednesday at a four-unit apartment building at 38 Spruce St. All tenants of the building were displaced. McGinn, who lived in one of the units, was arrested at the Sanford Police Department.
