The first was in 1949, just two years after his wedding to Princess Elizabeth, and three before she became Queen. Our picture shows him – as tradition dictated – walking behind the Princess alongside the civic party through Stonegate with York Minster in the background. His final visit was in April 2012 when he and Princess Beatrice accompanied the Queen on a visit to York as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour of the UK. Since 2009, the York-based internet service provider has spent over £1m in developing the private network to directly connect businesses in York, Leeds and beyond to the UK’s national internet exchanges. “We are very proud of our private network which has required significant investment over the last decade or so. Our aim is to provide our clients with the connectivity they need for their business to compete in today’s digital world,” said co-founder, Mark Fordyce. “We are continually upgrading it and future proofing the infrastructure and we are very pleased to have completed this phase of the work despite the Covid-19 pandemic.” ....
