Another 11 of the People’s Party of Canada’s (PPC) riding associations shut down days after the party told its supporters that it’s committed to running a national slate of candidates in the next federal election.
Of the riding associations (known formally as electoral district associations) that shut down, there were: five in Ontario, and one each in Manitoba, Nunavut, Newfoundland and Labrador, Alberta, Quebec and New Brunswick. Nine were shut down at the request of the riding association’s leadership, while two one in Manitoba and Ontario were closed at the request of the party. ....

01 - Stringent new rules took effect in three Quebec regions at the heart of rising COVID-19 case counts in the province. Bars, cinemas and restaurant dining rooms were ordered closed for at least 28 days in Montreal, Quebec City and Chaudiere-Appalaches. Restaurants were still allowed to offer takeout. The strictest of the new measures included prohibiting private gatherings. Violators could face a $1,000 fine. ....
