Getlink plans to resume payouts to investors even though Eurostar services are still curtailed

Shareholders such as hedge boss Sir Chris Hohn and Italian infrastructure giant Atlantia will share a multi million-pound payout from Getlink after freight traffic cushioned the company from the economic fallout of Covid.
Getlink, a separate company to Eurostar, said the rail operator had carried just 88,051 passengers in the first three months of the year compared with almost 2m in the same period of 2020.
Eurostar has sealed a £400m refinancing with its banks and shareholders, clearing a key hurdle as it fights for survival. The operator is in talks with the UK and French governments over additional support to tide it through until travel restrictions are lifted. ....

The impact of Brexit on many small French firms is ‘quite awful’, says the vice-chairman of French business sector body Medef.
Speaking today at a conference called Brexit: Divorce or a fresh start? at Le Touquet-Paris-Plage, Patrick Martin said out of 173,000 French businesses of all sizes that belong to Medef, there are 120,000 that trade with the UK. ....

Getlink has taken measures to facilitate remote voting, so that shareholders can vote without being present at the general meeting via remote voting solutions (postal or proxy voting) and online via the secure voting platform VOTACCESS. ....
