Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that the intensity of light is more important than the source from where it emanates, State BJP Vice-President B.Y. Vijayendra maintained that
Veerashaiva-Lingayat community has the strength to become the leading light of the entire world.
He was speaking after laying the foundation stone for the new building of Mysuru District unit of All India Veerashaiva Mahasabha at JSS Layout First Stage near Basaveshwara Circle on Dr. Rajkumar Road here yesterday.
Noting that Mysuru is a Punya Bhoomi known for its spirituality, Vijayendra, who is the son of Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa (BSY), heaped praises on the erstwhile Mysuru Maharajas for making Karnataka a prosperous State. Pointing out that Suttur Mutt is like Aramane-Gurumane, he said that Veerashaiva-Lingayat community has shaped itself as the protector of all sections of the society. ....

MCC building turns 100, event planned on Jan. 24

Grand celebrations amidst the pandemic not possible, says Commissioner
The building where the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) functions has turned 100. And the MCC has proposed to celebrate the historic moment in a simple manner in view of the COVID-19 pandemic.
MCC Commissioner Gurudatta Hegde said the MCC building would be completing 100 years on January 24. “Grand celebrations amidst the pandemic are not possible. But the celebrations will happen but in a simple way to mark the big occasion.”
The Commissioner has sought suggestions on the nature of celebrations.
The majestic structure on Sayyaji Rao Road in the core heritage zone (CHZ) was recently restored, giving it a new coat of paint. Even the interiors of the building were restored complying with the heritage norms. ....

Fencing of land near Lalitha Mahal Helipad
Mysuru: Following reports that a gate has sprung up overnight at Lalitha Mahal Helipad area, where a board has also been installed which read “This land is the private property of P.D. Wadiyar and legal action will be initiated against anyone found trespassing or conducting unauthorised transactions- Palace Estate Officer- Mysuru,” member of erstwhile Mysore royal family Pramoda Devi Wadiyar has clarified on the issue.
Addressing a press meet at Mysore Palace yesterday, Pramoda Devi Wadiyar said that some persons have misunderstood the purpose of erecting the gate and installation of a board near Lalitha Mahal Helipad. Asserting that the gate has been erected on the path leading to the helipad as part of securing her property following a High Court order, she said that no fencing has been done on the path. But as some persons are indulged in a misinformation campaign, she was forced to issue the clarification. ....
