Alright, Minnesota -- Who's Not Wearing Their Seatbelt?

My wife and I were driving up I-94 from the Cities recently and saw one of the MN Department of Transportation digital billboards. Its message read something along the lines of Buckle Up, Minnesota. Seatbelts Save Lives. My wife turned to me and said, Who doesn t wear their seatbelt still? I don t know anyone that doesn t wear a seatbelt. As I thought about it I realized that I, too, don t know anyone who doesn t wear a seatbelt. Which begs the question
who s not wearing their seatbelt?
On Monday, May 24 the Minnesota Department of Public Safety and Minnesota law enforcement kicked off a two-week campaign cracking down on seatbelt violations. Extra seat belt patrols begin statewide as unbelted traffic deaths increase, MN Traffic Safety posted on Twitter. ....

Since the first rail line was completed in Minnesota in 1862, the railroad has had a storied existence in the state. As Steve Johnson of the Hinckley Fire museum relates, fire is part of that story.
“The Hinckley Fire was 500 square miles that was totally incinerated in 4 hours,” said Johnson.
It was September 1, 1894. The stage was set by months of drought, by a temperature inversion, and in particular, by mile after mile of dry, woody slash left on the land by fifty years of white pine lumbering. Summer fires were common throughout those years. But this was different.
“A fire started along the tracks about five miles south of Hinckley, and eyewitnesses that survived the fire saw it: it was a train that started the fire,” said Johnson. ....

MN Driver Loses Control On 494, Miraculously Avoids Collison

There s a crazy video making its way online captured by the Minnesota Department of Transportation. On Wednesday morning unknown driver along Minnesota Interstate 494 and Highway 52 lost control of the truck they were driving and narrowly avoided a massive Collison.
Roads were slick this morning and you can see possible evidence of that in the video. Two other vehicles were in the median of the road in the same spot where the truck lost control.

The 10 second video shows the truck lose complete control, swerve into the right lane and then cross back over into the left lane, two lanes over as it does a complete 180 degree turn. ....

MN State Patrol Rescue Pedestrian Stuck on Highway [WATCH]
The identity and condition of the man at time of writing is unknown, though MN Safety reports that no injuries were reported.
On Thursday, March 4 MN Safety posted a video to Youtube that shows Minnesota State Patrol responding to a call of a pedestrian on the median of a busy Minneapolis highway. The man can be seen pacing the median, and at one point he runs across four lanes of traffic before running back.
The event happened a week before on February 25, according to the video details. Occurred on Feb 25, 2021 in Minneapolis and MN State Patrol responded. Three State Patrol vehicles eventually arrive simultaneously, two from one direction and the third from the opposite. One officer can be seen rushing out of his car and tackling the pedestrian. ....
