Australian Medical Association WA boss Andrew Miller is calling for Health Minister Roger Cook to stand down after a damning report found seven-year-old Aishwarya Aswath was failed on multiple fronts by Perth Children’s Hospital on the night she died.
Dr Miller told 6PR’s Liam Bartlett that Mr Cook bore the ultimate responsibility for the failures that were being raised for months before the Morley Primary School student’s death. ....

The parents of seven-year-old Aishwarya Aswath claim Perth Children’s Hospital staff were rude and lacked humanity on the night their daughter died of a strepptococcus A bacterial infection after waiting nearly two hours to see a doctor.
They also want a new system called Aishwarya’s Care in hospital emergency departments which give parents greater power to escalate concerns about the health of their children.

Opposition health spokeswoman Libby Mettam has joined Australian Medical Association WA boss Andrew Miller in calling for Health Minister Roger Cook to stand down in the wake of a damning report revealed multiple failings at Perth Children’s Hospital the night Aishwarya Aswath died.
Ms Mettam moved a motion in Parliament on Thursday to condemn Mr Cook for failing to take proper responsibility for the Morley Primary School student’s death and called on him to resign. The motion was voted down by Labor’s overwhelming majority. ....
