L to R: Josh Mehlman, Chairman of FJCC, Commissioner Shea, Rabbi Moshe Tuvia Lieff of Agudas Yisroel of Avenue L and Mordy Serle.(NYPD)
In the aftermath of several distressing acts of anti-Semitic hate crimes in Brooklyn over the past few days, Chief of Department Rodney Harrison met on Sunday morning with Flatbush Shomrim, the Flatbush Jewish Community Coalition (FJCC), and local community leaders to hear their concerns and allay their fears.
After meeting with the representatives of the Flatbush community, Chief Harrison went with them on a walking tour of the neighborhood, where he dropped in on several stores to hear the concerns and fears of the residents and business owners. ....

One Mitzvah Brings Another

Another way CPI has found to save lives and make a kiddush Hashem at the same time

ecently, I came to an additional understanding of Chazal’s statement, “Mitzvah goreres mitzvah  one mitzvah leads to another” (Pirkei Avos 4:2 ). The pleasure of doing a mitzvah ben adam l’chaveiro that benefits others is so great that one immediately begins looking for additional ways to help.
That insight was the result of a recent discussion with Mordy Serle, one of the three founders of the Covid Plasma Initiative (CPI), together with Chaim Lebovits and Abba Swiatycki.

CPI Urges Community to Tap Into New Outpatient COVID-19 Antibody Treatment

By JLNJ Staff | January 07, 2021
(Courtesy of CPI) Covid Plasma Initiative’s lifesaving efforts have expanded to include the facilitation of a newly available, potentially life-saving antibody treatment referred to as monoclonal antibodies. Now in its sixth week of availability, CPI has facilitated the treatment for hundreds of people across New York, New Jersey, Chicago, Cleveland, Boston, Florida and more.
The treatment is an infusion of lab-manufactured, concentrated antibodies, similar to the antibodies present in convalescent plasma. It is the treatment given to President Trump and Governor Christie and has been available to the public for the past six weeks.
The data thus far and feedback from patients is extremely positive. Covid Plasma Initiative has tracked approximately 600 NYC-area high-risk patients who received monoclonal antibodies treatment in the past five weeks. Only four (.66%) were subsequently hospitalized for worsening symptoms. Th ....
