Superintendent Tracy Wrend announced last week she is stepping down at the end of the school year âto explore other opportunities.â She will serve until June 30, but agreed to vacate the post if the school district can hire an interim superintendent earlier. Wrend will receive her salary in its entirety next fiscal year. âI truly appreciate the opportunity I had to serve the communities, schools, and students of LSUU,â Wrend said in a Jan. 8 statement. âI am most proud of my continued commitment to doing what was best for each and every LSUU student, even when it was hard, unpopular, or difficult to explain publicly.â ....
A car chase that began in Morristown and involved officers from three different departments ended with the driver and three passengers, all from Philadelphia, being accused of drug-related offenses by police. According to Morristown police, Brameir Johnson, 18, of Philadelphia, was driving a Florida-registered vehicle through Morristown at about 9:34 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 9. Police tried to stop Johnson for a motor vehicle violation when he instead took off, heading east on Route 15. Officers from the Lamoille County Sheriffâs and Hardwick Police departments joined Morristown chasing Johnson, who eventually stopped in Hardwick. While pursuing the vehicle, police saw something thrown from the vehicleâs passenger side â upon recovery it was determined to be about 55.4 grams of cocaine. ....
