Michele Ventriglia, whose age and hometown were not immediately available, told authorities she was looking at her lap to retrieve her dropped cigarette around 3:45 p.m. when her car drifted to the left and struck two pedestrians walking their German shepherd, police spokeswoman Jillian Messina said.
