It was a rough outing for the Brownwood Lions Tuesday night as the Stephenville Yellow Jackets defeated the Lions 12-0 in five innings. The Lions, who have made the playoffs as the 3rd seed, still have one more regular season game against Stephenville, again. That game will be played at Morris Southall Field this Friday night at 7:00 pm. You can also listen to the game on KOXE 101.3 or the KOXE App.

A game winning hit by Kris Hobbs propelled the Brownwood Lions past the Gatesville Hornets 4-3 Tuesday night at Morris Southall Field in a game broadcast on KOXE by Carl Wayne and Scott McDaniel.
“It’s good to get a win in a one-run game,” said Lions second-year head coach Brian Harris. “The last couple of games we battled really hard and competed pretty well in some spots, but I thought we did a really good job of doing that for a full seven innings tonight.”
On the mound, Hunter Day went the distance and allowed three runs on six hits with 11 strikeouts and a pair of walks.
The Brownwood Lions baseball team is now 4-4 in district after a 6-5 loss to Lampasas Friday night in a game broadcast on KOXE. This was the second meeting this week between the Lions and Badgers and the second time Brownwood lost by 1 run.
Next up, the Lions will host Gatesville Tuesday night at 7:00 pm at Morris Southall Field, the first of two games against Gatesville, 3-3, this week. Read Derrick Stuckly’s full account of the game at this link.

LAMPASAS – The arm and bat of Lampasas’ Ace Whitehead turned out to be too much for the Brownwood Lions to overcome in a 2-1 road loss to the Badgers in District 6-4A baseball action Tuesday night.
Whitehead – who is headed to the University of Texas to continue his baseball career – tossed a complete game three-hitter with 13 strikeouts and four walks. Whitehead also belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning to account for the only runs Lampasas needed.
