Yacht Sparks Launch of Oban Lifeboat in Strong Winds

ObanRNLI in Western Scotland launched to the aid of a yacht that has dragged its anchor in strong northerly winds on Friday afternoon (23 May).
The 30ft yacht with two people on board had run aground in the popular anchorage of Puilladobhrain, at the north end of Seil island.
As the all-weather lifeboat Mora Edith MacDonald made best speed towards the anchorage, however, the volunteers learned that the yacht had managed to refloat itself and its crew repositioned their anchor. ....

The Oban lifeboat crew withstood strong winds as they helped to rescue a sailing boat that suffered damaged sails.
Coastguard requested the launch of the Mora Edith MacDonald yesterday afternoon to help a yacht at the entrance to Loch Craignish, where a strong easterly wind was blowing.
The 32ft sailing boat had two people on-board who were having issues with their sails when a line snapped, preventing them from furling their headsail. ....

Oban lifeboat volunteers were scrambled last night following reports of a person in the water and a sailing dinghy that was adrift.
The RNLI crew were called to reports of someone in the was in Loch Feochan at around 9.15pm.
It is believed the person was clinging to a mooring buoy when they got into difficulty.
Oban lifeboat Mora Edith MacDonald was launched but on route it was established that another person had entered the water to assist them. ....
