Several live, on-location musical events will feature women artists this Mother’s Day weekend:
♦ South Orange Performing Arts Center in South Orange is bringing its stage back to life on Friday, May 7, with a concert by singer-songwriter and New Jersey native Dana Fuchs. The show will be limited to 100 audience members in the theater, but also will be streamed live online.
♦ Broadway veteran Kelli Rabke will premiere her new cabaret show, “Tiny Giants Petite Powerhouses from Garland to Gaga,” at the Mayo Performing Arts Center in Morristown with performances 3 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 8. As indicated by its title, the show will pay tribute to “small-in-stature” women vocalists, including Edith Piaf, Bette Midler, Stevie Nicks, the singers whose names are incorporated in the show’s title, a ....

Centenary Stage Company Closes Out Women Playwrights Series With Loretta The Yodeling Cowgirl On May 5th
(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) The final reading in this season’s Women Playwrights Series at Centenary Stage Company is Vita Patrick Morales’s 
Loretta the Yodeling Cowgirl taking place on Wednesday, May 5th at 7:30pm in the Sitnik Theatre of the Lackland Performing Arts Center. The play is inspired by a true story of Loretta and her wiry friend, Em, who live in a home for the aged in Mount Jewett, Pennsylvania. Their days are the same and their banter circuitous. But when Loretta learns that her daughters are about to sell the family home, she travels back in time to the days of her Yodeling Cowgirl fame, and the choices she made for happiness.​ ....

♦ The Summit-based New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble will mount its 52nd anniversary performance of “¡Ballie di Primavera! The Dances of Spring” online 7 p.m. Sunday, May 2.
The program will feature NJDTE pre-professional dancers ages 10-18 and include works by; Christopher Bloom of Ballet Hispánico, excerpts of “Don Quixote” and “Paquita” staged by the ensemble’s rehearsal director Alexandra Gonzalez, “Parallel” staged by artistic director Nancy Turano, and Paul Taylor’s “Cloven Kingdom”, staged by 20-year Paul Taylor veteran Michelle Fleet.
