Volkswagen U.S. CEO meets with EPA administrator on EVs

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Volkswagen AG s top U.S. executive met with the head of the Environmental Protection Agency on Thursday to talk about electric vehicles and the push toward cleaner cars as the Biden administration works to revise vehicle emissions rules.
Scott Keogh, president and chief executive of Volkswagen Group of America, spoke with EPA Administrator Michael Regan and reaffirmed the company s support for an emissions deal with California.
Ford Motor Co, Honda Motor Co, Volkswagen and BMW in July 2019 struck a voluntary agreement with California on reducing vehicle emissions through the 2026 model years which would allow them to meet a single nationwide standard. ....

(Reuters) -General Motors Co on Wednesday posted far stronger-than-expected first-quarter profit despite a global semiconductor chip shortage as it held down costs and focused on high-margin pickup trucks and SUVs.

The Detroit automaker, whose shares were up 3.3% in early trading, also said its full-year pre-tax profit would come in at the high end of its forecast.
“The speed and agility of our team are front and center as we move from managing through a pandemic to managing the global semiconductor shortage,” Chief Executive Mary Barra said in a letter to shareholders. “This remains a challenging period.” ....

GM commits to doubling ad spending with Black-owned media

DETROIT (Reuters) – General Motors Co on Friday said it will double its commitment to spending with Black-owned media to 4% of its ad budget next year with a target of reaching 8% by 2025.
GM had come under criticism from some Black media leaders for not spending enough of the U.S. automaker’s ad budget with Black-owned media. GM said it will spend 2% of its annual budget this year with Black-owned media.
