Darbhanga (Bihar) [India], June 4 (ANI): Congress party General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Friday spoke over phone to Bihar's 'cycle girl' Jyoti Kumari and expressed condolences over the death of her father.
Jyoti grabbed headlines when she rode a bicycle, carrying her ill father, all the way from Gurugram to her native village Sirhauli during the first wave of coronavirus.
Over a year after Jyoti Kumari cycled 1,200 kilometres from Gurgaon to Bihar's Darbhanga with her injured father riding pillion during the national lockdown, the 15-year-old girl lost him to cardiac arrest.

The Bihar girl who became famous as the ‘Cycle girl’ for riding a long distance to save her father, lost him recently. Mohan Paswan, the father passed away on Monday after suffering a cardiac arrest at his village in Darbhanga district.
After the death was confirmed, the DM Darbhanga Dr SM Tyagarajan confirmed it. They sent help for the last rites to be done. Homage was paid to the father in Sirhulli village.
Jyoti Kumari, the 13-year-old daughter of Paswan received appreciation and accolades after she rode a bicycle for a long distance to bring her father from Gurugram to Darbhanga. When the lockdown was announced last year, the girl decided to bring her father home as she didn’t want to be stranded at an unknown place.
