June 10, 2021, 8:35 am · Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment’s new CEO, Ray Pineault, was recommended for licensing by the Nevada Gaming Control Board on Wednesday, although the Connecticut-based casino operator is facing disciplinary action from the regulator. Mr. Pineault was named interim CEO for Mohegan in late March after the company’s former top executive, Mario Kontomerkos announced his departure after three years on the job. The casino operator appointed Mr. Pineault as its permanent chief and president late last month. During his licensing testimony on Wednesday, Mohegan’s new boss apologized to Nevada regulators on behalf of the company for violating state-mandated health and safety regulations at the opening of Virgin Hotels Las Vegas on March 25. ....

(Image: Clairvest Group) Wakayama Governor Yoshinobu Nisaka announced today that the prefecture’s government has chosen Clairvest Neem Ventures (CNV) as its integrated resort partner. CNV is a subsidiary of the Clairvest Group, a Canadian-based private equity conglomerate. CNV has presented Wakayama with a JPY470 billion (US$4.3 billion) development.
CNV became the lone bidder to partner with Wakayama in its ambitions of securing one of Japan’s three forthcoming casino licenses following Suncity Group’s sudden withdrawal last month. Nisaka said the prefecture and city will now work directly with CNV to further develop the casino resort plan. ....
A United States-based casino operator developing a gaming resort at Incheon, South Korea, has confirmed its interim chief executive will become officially its president and CEO. U.S. tribal casino operator Mohegan Gaming and Entertainment said on Thursday that Ray Pineault would take on the roles with immediate effect. Mr Pineault (pictured) had been the interim boss since March 31, when Mario Kontomerkos stepped down as president and chief executive. Mohegan Gaming is developing the Inspire Entertainment Resort, a complex with a foreigner-only casino, near Incheon International Airport, South Korea’s main air hub. The firm had confirmed in a March 31 announcement that the South Korean authorities had granted it a one-year postponement on the first-phase opening of Inspire. ....
