Second arrest made in Cell C R130m tender scam

The Hawks have arrested a second IT executive in connection with a R130 million tender scam.
Adriraan Pillay, 39, was arrested in Germiston, Gauteng on Friday and appeared in the Palm Ridge Specialised Commercial Crimes Court on Monday.
Pillay and co-accused, former Cell C executive Mohamed Ismail Adamjee, allegedly inflated the invoices of service providers, resulting in losses to the tune of R130 million for Cell C.
Adamjee, 44, was an IT manager at one of Cell C s service providers and is alleged to have committed the crimes between 2012 and 2019 with a director of one of the mobile network operator s service providers. ....

A 39-year-old information technology (IT) executive at mobile operator Cell C has been arrested for his alleged role in fraud and corruption involving about R130m.
Adriraan Pillay was arrested by the Hawks’ serious commercial crime investigation team in Germiston on Friday after a warrant of arrest was issued. He has been charged with fraud and corruption regarding an alleged tender scam. ....
