Delhi court suspends magistrate court order convicting AAP's Somnath Bharti

A sessions court in Delhi has suspended a magistrate court order convicting AAP MLA Somnath Bharti and sentencing him to two years imprisonment in connection with an assault case involving security guards of AIIMS, Delhi.
Special Judge Vikas Dhull s order came after observing that the appeal filed by Somnath challenging magistrate court order will take a considerable time for disposal.
Since the appeal is going to take a considerable time for disposal and having regard to grounds set out in the appeal, the application filed by the convict/appellant is allowed and conviction order dated January 22, 2021 and sentence order dated January 1, 2021 of Ld Trial court are suspended during the pendency of this appeal, subject to the appellant furnishing personal bond in the sum of Rs 20,000 with one surety in the like amount to the satisfaction of this court. New Delhi [India], January 26 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Prakash Jarwal on Monday sent a defamation notice to Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders for levelling baseless allegations of bribe against him in relation to Jal Board tanker matter.
Jarwal termed the allegations against him as baseless with the malicious intention .
The notice stated that the Delhi wing of BJP through the press release dated January 24 alleged, MLA Prakash Jarwal was caught taking bribe in tanker scam of Rs 60 lakh from more than 20 tanker owners .
Jarwal s lawyer Mohd Irshad through notice said, The imaginary allegation levelled against my client and his party by you (Delhi BJP leaders), are false, smack of evil design and criminally defamatory in nature and have harmed his reputation. ....

New Delhi [India], January 19 (ANI): A Delhi Court on Tuesday discharged three Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs in a case registered in 2017 for allegedly manhandling and abusing a woman on the assembly premises.
The Court finds no prima facie case is made out against accused persons Oklha AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, Malviya Nagar MLA Somnath Bharti and Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh and discharged them of all charges.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmender Singh on Tuesday said, This court is of the considered view that in view of the lacunae in the material produced by the prosecution, no grave suspicion has arisen and accordingly, no prima facie case is made out against accused persons and they are discharged. ....
