Corruption - A social disease (Part 171): Namibia at the cross roads - Columns

Johan Coetzee
Namibia s average corruption rating by Transparency International (TI), i.e. all ratings added up and the sum divided by the number of years, is 4.86.
For the previous decade (2011-2020) the average is 4.95 out of 10 and for the first decade (1998-2007) the average is 4.89. The difference between the averagea of the first decade is an improvement of 0.06, which translates to 0.6%.

After 18 years of law enforcement in Kirby, including the past 11 as its leader, Police Chief Kevin Bois has served his final days in the city before retirement.
Bois, who joked that he was the world’s oldest rookie patrolman at age 33, served two stints in Kirby, first as a patrolman from 1995-2003 and then as interim-then-eventual chief starting in 2009 until his final day on the job last month.
“Last April, I sat down with (city manager) Monique (Vernon) and said ‘Look, we’re thinking about retiring,” Bois said on Feb. 23, the eve of his Feb. 24 retirement. “I’ve been in service to the public in one form or another for nearly 40 years now. It has nothing to do with politics or ongoing discussion in Kirby … it’s just time.” ....
