The Medium and Small Enterprises (MSMEs) in Mysuru region are feeling the brunt of the extended lockdown imposed as a measure to curb the surge in COVID-19 cases in the State.
Mysuru, which is an ancillary hub for the automobile sector, is affected by the domino effect of the extended lockdown on both men and material front.
Though the government has stated that manufacturing units of automobiles and components that are used in defence and health sectors can operate with 50 per cent employees or workforce, there are issues related to the availability of manpower, said A.S. Satish, President, Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) ....

Nearly 1,500 people get employment with UNDP support


Mysore/Mysuru: The UNDP (
United Nations Development Plan), in association with Magic Bus India, has helped nearly 1,500 economically backward  and  distressed people from all age groups in select districts of the State, to get employed. 
UNDP Karnataka State Chief Govindaraj Jayachandran said that the poor and marginalised sections of the society were the worst hit by COVID-19 crisis.Maintaining that the outbreak of the deadly pandemic brought untold misery to crores of poor families in the country, he said that Magic Bus India succeeded in getting jobs to 1,468 youths and other middle aged people of the State in private sector. ....

Karnataka MSMEs express dissatisfaction over power tariff hike
Mysuru, Feb 18 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in Karnatka have expressed their dissatisfaction over the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation (CESC) appeal of increasing power tariff.
At a public hearing organised by the KERC at the Court Hall of the Deputy Commissioner s (DC) Office on Wednesday morning, along with Mysuru Industries Association (MIA) representatives of various bodies including Mysore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), Mysore Industries Association (MIA), KIADB Industrial Area Manufacturers Association (KIAMA), Hebbal Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (HIEMA) and domestic consumers sought the dismissal of the CESC petition that seeks a hike of 130.9 paise (Rs. 1.30) per unit across categories. ....
