CCD lauds INEC for promoting diversity, inclusion


According to him, this is unlike in the past where issues of women and persons with disabilities were squeezed under Voter Education and Publicity (VEP) department of INEC with limited opportunity for presentation of issues of concern to women and PWDs.

COVID-19 Vaccine: PWDs express worry over exclusion from priority groups

Person With Disabilities, PWDs, under the auspices of Centre for Citizens with Disabilities, CCD, Friday, expressed worry over alleged exclusion from priority groups that would first be administered with the COVID-19 vaccine.
Their fear was contained in a statement signed by Executive Director, CDD, David Anyaele, which is that persons with disabilities are susceptible to contact COVID-19 infection compared to able-bodied persons, hence should be considered first for the vaccine.
The statement reads in part, “As laudable as the effort of the federal government on the public vaccination against COVID-19, CCD is worried that persons with disabilities are missing amongst the prioritizing groups to be vaccinated from this batch. ....

The Federal Government, through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, has budgeted the sum of N10.6bn to transport COVID-19 vaccine to the 36 states and the 774 local government areas as well as the Federal Capital Territory and the five area councils.
Also, about N1.4bn was set aside for the procurement of Personal Protective Equipment while N373m was earmarked for the purchase of Adverse Events Following Immunisation kits otherwise known as AEFI kits.
This is according to a document obtained by
Saturday PUNCH on Friday, which was presented to the 36 governors during a meeting between representatives of the Federal Ministry of Health and the Nigeria Governors Forum on Thursday. ....
