Bulacan province starts COVID-19 vaccine rollout for frontline health workers

Gov. Daniel Fernando led the roll out at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center, two days after the province received its allocation of CoronaVac vaccines from the Department of Health-Central Luzon Center for Health Development.
Bulacan Medical Center (BMC) chief Hjordis Marushka Celis was the first to get the jab in the province.
She was followed by BMC Hospital Training Officer Jose Emiliano Gatchalian and BMC Nurse Supervisor Alma Villena.
Other health workers from BMC and the province’s district hospitals are also set to be inoculated in the coming days.
Amid the initial hesitation of some health workers in getting the Chinese vaccine, Fernando expressed confidence that “the national government would not neglect us” in terms of the safety of the vaccine. ....

Bulacan gov't holds media literacy briefing on COVID-19 vaccination program

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan–In cooperation with the Provincial Health Office-Public Health, the Provincial Government of Bulacan through its Provincial Public Affairs Office (PPAO) held the Media Literacy on COVID-19 Vaccine Program for media practitioners on Feb. 18.
On behalf of Gov. Daniel Fernando, Maricel Santos-Cruz, PPAO head, acknowledged the role of the media in giving the public access to credible, correct and up-to-date information to help them understand the importance of vaccines.
Theresa Marie Bondoc, Health Education and Promotion Officer III from the Department of Health’s Central Luzon Center for Health Development, discussed the 10 must-knows with about the COVID-19 vaccine including the importance of vaccination, brands of vaccines to be used, priority groups, date and place of vaccination and steps to do before, during and after vaccination. ....

Angeles hosts anti-measles, rubella, polio vaccination

THE City Government of Angeles recently hosted the regional launching of the Measles-Rubella Oral Polio Vaccine Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-OPV SIA) of the Department of Health (DOH) in Central Luzon.
The MR-OPV SIA was held on January 29, 2021, at the Angeles City Hall.
During the activity, Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting delivered Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr.’s message of support for the DOH activity.
Amid the pandemic, Lazatin wanted to ensure the safety and health of all Angelenos especially children by preventing outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases such as measles, rubella, and polio.
Present during the second phase launching were DOH Undersecretary Gerardo V. Bayugo, Central Luzon Center for Health Development Director Dr. Cesar C. Cassion, World Health Organization Consultant Dr. Anthony Omoko, City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra, and city and regional health workers. ....
