Covid vaccine A fifth of people in Bracknell Forest have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine, figures reveal. NHS data shows 20,624 people had received both jabs by May 2 – 21 per cent of those aged 16 and over, based on the latest population estimates from the Office for National Statistics. Of those to have received both jabs, 17,321 were aged 45 and over – 34 per cent of the age group. It means 3,303 people aged between 16 to 44 have received both doses. Across England, more than a quarter of people aged 16 and over have received their second vaccine dose. It has led to a forecast from the Bank of England that the economy will grow this year at its fastest pace since the Second World War.

During the pandemic, more than 7,000 people have tested positive for the virus in Bracknell Forest and 185 of them have died. Earlier this month, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the national lockdown has done “the bulk of the work in reducing the disease” in the UK and it has “not been achieved by the vaccination programme”. Across Berkshire, 412,947 have had at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, according to the latest NHS figures.
