Central Ohio Folk Festival to be virtual, offering music, workshops

This year will mark the 24th annual Central Ohio Folk Festival. And the first time, the festival has gone virtual.
“We re calling this our grand experiment, ” said Bill Cohen, speaking by phone from his home in Clintonville.
Cohen, 73, is the publicity director for the Columbus Folk Music Society, which puts on the festival, and has been involved in it from its beginnings.
For years, the festival has been a weekend affair, held most recently at Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park.
Last year s event was canceled. This year s festival will be begin online at 11 a.m. Saturday and run through 9:30 p.m. Three “rooms” will be open at the same time during the festival. ....

2021 Central Ohio Folk Festival moved to a virtual celebration

In celebration of all things folk music, the Central Ohio Folk Festival will take place virtually from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. May 22.
Joining other festivals and event organizations around central Ohio, the 24th annual festival, led by the Columbus Folk Music Society, will be moved online for viewers to enjoy the various performances and workshops from the comfort of their homes.
On the virtual-broadcast mainstage, seven bands representing a wide range of genres which include folk, bluegrass, old-time, Americana, jazz, French classic and swing will perform.
The festival will be headlined by American folk duo Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams. Viewers can also expect performances from the Shazzbots, singer-songwriter Rj Cowdery, bluegrass band the Relentless Mules and others. ....
