Outside the Maine State House on Tuesday, Kathy Rondone helped put a face on the challenges low-and-fixed income residents sometimes face to find affordable or subsidized housing.
“The four words that changed my life were, ‘Your husband has Alzheimer’s,’” Rondone said.Sign up for our Newsletters
She and her husband, Frank, had bought a fixer-upper in Augusta as their retirement nest, but his illness put an end to the repairs.
“I actually lived for five months without heat or water, because of plumbing problems,” Rondone said.
