Credit: Street View A woman has criticised a government body’s “failure” to help her remove her ‘abusive’ brother as their mother’s carer. Speaking at an inquest into the death of her brother, Adrian Sharpe, Honor Dubois said that she was “very disappointed in the Office of the Public Guardian [OPG]” after her brother, who she claimed assaulted their mother while acting as her full-time carer, was left with power of attorney following ‘delays’ at the OPG. “I asked the OPG for help on multiple occasions and they failed,” she said. “They had the reports to get him removed, which they said would take three months, but then they said because of Covid it would be delayed by half a year. I felt it was an excuse as the report is sitting there for them and I’m disappointed they dragged their feet for such a long time.” ....
Basingstoke Magistrates Court. An Oakridge man has been given a fine after he drove through Hook at more than double the speed limit. Mariusz Nosarzewski, of Westray Close, was driving his Mercedes-Benz on the A30 London Road through the village at 70 miles per hour in December 2019. The speed limit for that section of the road is 30 miles per hour. The 38-year-old had originally admitted the offence, but changed his plea when appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court in October last year. He was convicted by magistrates on Monday. Nosarzewski was given a £300 fine and six points on his driving licence. Additionally, he was ordered to pay costs of £200 and a victim surcharge of £32. ....
A man has admitted trying to steal more than £400 of make-up from Boots. Paul Benjamin Foakes-Tiffin, of Gardeners Green in Shipton Bellinger, took £240 of make-up from a Boots store in Andover on October 13, 2020. He then stole £204 of No 7 serums on November 9. The 45-year-old indicated guilty pleas to both charges whilst appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court last Thursday. His case has been adjourned, pending a pre-sentence report. He has been released on conditional bail, and must not enter any retail premises in Tidworth or Ludgershall, except for Tesco and Hedge Pharmacy. An Andover man who allegedly assaulted two detention officers is set to stand trial. ....
