MARTINS FERRY First responders in Belmont County who still need the COVID-19 vaccine can get one today at East Ohio Regional Hospital. Spokesman Michael Garrison said the vaccine will be given from 8-11 a.m. today in the Skilled Rehab Activity Room. “We learned from the Belmont County Sheriff’s office that not everyone there had been vaccinated yet and decided to offer our help. We are pleased to support our Belmont County first responders and it is really the least we can do for all they do for our community,” EORH Chief Operating Officer Bernie Albertini said. ....
Times Leader Staff Writer MARTINS FERRY In preparation for its future reopening, East Ohio Regional Hospital will be blessed Wednesday. Michael Garrison, hospital spokesman, said the non-denominational blessing will take place with local clergy, hospital officials and media in attendance. It will not be open to the public because the hospital still is getting ready to reopen. Chief Operating Officer Bernie Albertini said Dr. Michael Tatro, an emergency medical specialist, and the Rev. William Webster, pastor of Grace Presbyterian Church, will help lead the event. “We are a community hospital at our core, so it was fitting to call upon clergy from our local community to help us ready EORH for serving the public,” Albertini said in a press release. ....
CCISD The Copper Country Intermediate School District Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting virtually on Tuesday, Dec. 15. Superintendent Stockero shared with the board that two Copper Country stories have made their way to other states and the CCISD had received calls asking about them. The first calls came from schools in Colorado and Florida. They had read about the Tiny House that the CTE construction class completed. The Colorado and Florida schools thought the project was great and wanted to understand the process so they could try to replicate the project. The next call came from an Autism Specialist from a school district in the Twin Cities in Minnesota. The Twin City superintendent shared the news article about the Core Board with the staff and they decided it is something they would like to implement as well. The CCISD Autism consultant did a virtual meeting with the Autism Consultant from Minnesota. They discussed what the board was made out o ....

Council members didn t mince words Monday night, saying the city s previous reluctance to offer such incentives led to major retail developments heading instead to Peoria and East Peoria.
