SIR – As a youngster I was taught that I would be innocent until proved guilty. Some years ago, the then Director of Public Prosecutions told the Crown Prosecution Service that those alleging crime should be called victims and believed by the police. This resulted in senior members of the public being charged on the word of a fantasist. We now have progressed to guilty as alleged until proved innocent. The Royal family and our Prime Minister are examples of this reversal of the presumption to guilty until proved innocent. When will we revert to innocent until proved guilty? His Honour Lord Parmoor

Legal challenge seeks to overturn Quebec ban on sale of cannabis-themed products

Jeff McIntosh/The Canadian Press Quebec’s ban on the sale of cannabis-themed products is too broad and inhibits legitimate freedom of expression, the lawyer for a head shop challenging the law argued this week. Michael Chevalier told a Quebec Superior Court judge that the provincial government hasn’t proven banning the sale of all products that reference cannabis is necessary to achieve its goal of preventing the public – particularly young people – from being harmed by the drug. And he said there need to be exceptions to the sweeping law, which bans the sale of everything from books to apparel and other products with images of cannabis leaves or slogans related to the drug.

Lambda Social March 14, 2021 – Posted in News By Curtis Gordon st annual Canadian Mining Games.   The Laurentian team finished with 966 points just four points behind Laval University, which won the competition with 970 points. Third place went to the University of Alberta.  The competition was held virtually and was hosted by McGill University and Polytechnique Montreal.   Students competed as individuals or as a team in a range of disciplines through technical and academic challenges. Universities were ranked based on the sum of team members’ scores.   Events ranged from ‘Mineral Processing’ to ‘Health and Safety’ to ‘Mine Trivia.’  In total, the weekend featured over 25 events and presentations.
