This year Memorial Day morning was rainy, and as a result the parades in Presque Isle and Caribou were cancelled. However just prior to the Mapleton parade formation, the clouds lifted and the rain stopped. Because of the threat of rain, the parade was smaller than usual, but it stepped off on time at 2 p.m.
Each year a military veteran is selected to be the grand marshal. This year Michael Ireland of Chapman was selected. Ireland achieved the rank of sergeant in the United States Marine Corps.

Paramount has hired Mika Pryce as its new SVP of Production for the Motion Picture Group, the company announced on Wednesday. Pryce will begin in her new role on April 26 and will report to Daria Cercek and Michael Ireland, Production co-presidents.
Pryce was previously head of development at This Radicle Act Productions, a banner founded by Don Cheadle. While there, she developed an adaptation of Wesley Lowery’s Black Lives Matter nonfiction book “They Can’t Kill Us All,” an adaptation of A. Lee Martinez’s fantasy novel “Monster” and Camilla Blackett’s upcoming dark comedy on mental health “Max,” which will be released on HBO Max. Stephanie Ito will step down as president of post-production at Paramount Pictures, continuing a series of changes of the studio’s leadership over the past year as physical production head Lee Rosenthal also announced his departure this week.
Ito joined Paramount in 2006 and rose to become the first woman to head post-production at a major studio. She has also pushed for diversity in Hollywood, serving as executive co-chair of Viacom’s Asian Media Professionals group. In her time at Paramount, she has worked on post-production on all of the studio’s “Transformers” films as well as on installments of the “Mission: Impossible” series and both “A Quiet Place” and its upcoming sequel.
