Last week brought the news that South Bend City Clerk Dawn Jones had hired Joshua Reynolds, a former Indianapolis police officer, to serve as police community review office director. Reynolds, who runs an investigative firm, will start in the job June 7. Reynolds was among 40 applicants for the job, 13 of whom advanced to interviews with Jones, her attorney, Michelle Engel, and council attorney Bob Palmer, before three finalists were chosen, Jones said. Fri, 04/23/2021 LAWRENCE A University of Kansas expert on the evolutionary history and diversity of insects will present his distinguished professor Inaugural Lecture, “400 Million Years on Six Legs: Evolution of the Insects,” on Thursday, April 29. Michael Engel is a University Distinguished Professor of Ecology & Evolutionary Biology and senior curator in the KU Biodiversity Institute, a rank he has held since 2018. He is also a courtesy professor in the Department of Geology and the Museum Studies Program. The lecture will begin at 4 p.m. and be recorded for those unable to attend the virtual event and posted to the Faculty Development website.
